Research - Terrain Projects (Stage 2)

Stage Two Projects in the Terrains Stream (Program 1) are concentrated into one holistic project for each of the high priority exploration regions.

Project Y4 - Concepts to Targets: A scale integrated mineral systems study of the eastern Yilgarn Craton

This project is building on 3D maps constructed in Stage One (see Final Reports below) to produce crustal architecture models that are more comprehensive and integrate regional (channelling), camp (regular spacing) and deposit (ore geometry) scales to understand the architectural framework, geodynamic history, and evolution of the mineral system.

Project T5 - Crustal Architecture

Project T5 Crustal Architecture 3D geological map and mineralisation in the Tasmanides of eastern Australia.

T5 aims to construct a regionally consistent structural, stratigraphic and intrusion architecture of the Tasman Orogen to understand the fundamental controls on location of major one deposits (gold and base materials) and to assist the mineral exploration industry to predict and discover new world class ore bodies in south east Australia.

The project has benefited from a project team that is predominantly drawn from sponsors.  The local knowledge provided by their participation has been a key to its success.

Project I7 - Multiscale analysis of the Mt Isa region and its metallogenic significance

The I7 Project will constrain the 3D and 4D evolution of the Proterozoic Mt Isa region and determine the fundamental architectural controls on the location of ore deposits in the region. Using the 5 Question approach, the project will derive the multi-scale and multi-disciplinary factors that relate to the localisation of Ag-Pb-Zn and Cu-Au ore systems in a 3D map of the region, extending into the Batten Trough. This will assist explorers in evaluating the potential for new ore systems and undertake predictive modeling of a range of mineralisation settings.
